Repair and reline · Melbourne's west, Geelong, BallaratStormwater Drain Repairs in Melbourne West
When the yard floods, downpipes back up or a pit overflows in rain, the stormwater line is usually blocked, crushed or collapsed somewhere between the roof and the outlet.
Stormwater drains are a separate system from the sewer. Rain comes off the roof, down the downpipes, into pits and pipes under the yard, and away to the street or an easement. Because they only carry water when it rains, problems hide for months. Then a heavy downpour arrives and the yard turns into a pond, downpipes overflow and water pools against the house.
The causes are usually simple, and visible on camera. Leaf litter and silt settle in pits and pipes until there is no room left. Pits near driveways get cracked or crushed by cars and wheelie bins. Roots find the joins. On reactive clay soils, ground movement can split a pipe or drop a section out of line so water sits in it.
Blockage Bros puts the camera through the stormwater line first, so you see on screen whether it is blocked, crushed or collapsed, and where. The locator marks the spot and its depth. The line is jetted clear and tested, and you get three priced options in writing before any work starts, from a clean out to replacing the pit and pipe.
Signs your stormwater drain is blocked or broken
- The yard floods every time it rains heavily
- Water spills out the top of the downpipes
- A pit overflows or its grate has sunk
- Water pools against the house or the fence
- Leaves and silt keep filling the same pit
Is my stormwater drain blocked or broken?
The camera answers it. A blocked line shows a build up of leaves, silt or roots, with the pipe intact behind it, and jetting clears it. A broken line shows a crack, a crushed section or a collapse, and jetting only moves the debris along until it catches on the damage again. The footage decides which fix makes sense.
Replacing a crushed stormwater pit
A pit that has been driven over often cracks at the base or the sides, and the pipes joined to it shift out of place. Water then backs up into the yard instead of flowing on.
- The old pit is dug out
- A new pit goes in at the right level
- The inlet and outlet pipes are rejoined
- The line is tested so we know water flows through

Related drain services
- Pipe Relining: Roots and cracks keep wrecking a drain that runs under the lawn, the driveway or the slab. Relining puts a new pipe inside the old one without a trench through the yard.
- Drain Repairs: A broken section of drain will keep blocking however often it is cleared. Blockage Bros finds the break, digs one small hole in the right spot and replaces it.
- Sewer Repairs: Water coming up the shower or a sewer smell in the yard usually means the drain between the house and the sewer connection is cracked, full of roots or collapsed.
- Blocked Drains: Water sitting in the shower, a sink that will not empty or a gully trap spilling over? Blockage Bros clears the drain, then shows you on camera what caused it.
- Blocked Toilets: Toilet will not flush, or the water rises to the rim and sits there? Blockage Bros finds out whether it is the pan or the main line, and clears it.
- Drain Cleaning & Hydro Jetting: Grease, fat, sludge and roots narrow a drain long before it blocks. Blockage Bros cleans the whole pipe with high-pressure water, not just the spot that stopped.
Three priced options. You choose.
Once the camera shows the cause, your quote gives you all three, each with its own price.
Clear it
Jet the stormwater line and clear the pits of leaves and silt, the lowest cost today, though a crushed pipe will block again.
Repair the fault
Dig out and replace the crushed pit or the collapsed section of pipe at the spot the locator found.
The permanent solution
Replace or reline the whole stormwater run from the downpipes to the outlet, then test the full line.
Prices depend on what the camera finds. You see all three before any work starts.
Stormwater drain repairs: what customers say
Reviews of McQueen Group. Blockage Bros is its drainage crew: same owner, same technicians.
Daniel was earlier than scheduled time, he phoned me to advise he was on his way, i appreciate that very much. Attended property for toilet blockage, able to fix promptly and also gave me some tips for moving forward to help avoid blockages, very knowledgeable and assured they'd be back immediately if I experience any further issues. I'm very impressed and would highly recommend. Thanks team
Ryan was fast and efficient at fixing a clogged drainage system. Thanks guys!
Massive shout out to Brandon for attending my rental in kurunjang twice in a matter of afew weeks due to a blockage in the drain. He was friendly, extremely professional and efficient in both visits. He did an outstanding job rectifying the issue and for that I am extremely grateful and appreciative for all his efforts and hard work. Thanks Brandon!
Had Chris and his apprentice come and help with a blocked pipe. At all times Chris was very clear and transparent about what work was required and took the time to show using the camera, explaining why the pipe needed replacing. Thanks guys amazing work.
What a great experience! Initially dealt with Ashley to get an emergency booking and she was absolutely fantastic and assured me everything would be okay and the would fix the problem. I had the pleasure of having Harley come out to my place to fix a very smelly blocked drain problem and he was great. Called before arriving and once here, was very transparent with everything he needed to do, reassured me he would be able to fix it and then once he did fix it, made sure it was clean and even turned my fans on to air the crap smell. Will definitely recommend these guys and will 100% use them again if I need to!
Ryan and Michael from McQueen group provided me with thorough and very helpful advice. They did a great job identifying the reason my shower wouldn't drain properly and they fixed the problem efficiently. They were very professional and friendly to deal with. Highly recommended.
Stormwater Drain Repairs: common questions
Why does my yard flood when it rains?
Usually the stormwater line cannot take the water away fast enough, because a pit or pipe is blocked, crushed or collapsed. The water backs up and comes out at the lowest point. A camera inspection shows where the line stops working.
Can you fix a stormwater pit that has been run over?
Yes. The damaged pit is dug out and replaced, the pipes in and out are rejoined, and the line is tested. If the pipe beyond the pit was crushed too, the camera shows it and the quote covers it.
Is a stormwater drain the same as a sewer drain?
No. Stormwater carries rain from the roof and yard. The sewer carries waste from the toilets, showers and sinks. They are separate lines, and an overflowing gully trap is usually a sewer problem, while a flooding yard or overflowing downpipe is usually a stormwater one.
How much does stormwater drain repair cost?
It depends on where the blockage is and what caused it. The camera shows the cause, and you get three priced options in writing before any work starts.
Can you come out while it is raining?
Someone is on call 24/7, including after hours and weekends. Rain is often when the problem shows itself, which makes it a good time to see where the water is going.
