Melbourne's west · Hoppers Crossing 3029Blocked Drains in Hoppers Crossing, VIC
Trees planted when Hoppers Crossing's estates were new have had decades to grow, and many of their roots now reach the sewer line. Blockage Bros checks the line on camera first, then gives you options for clearing and sealing it.
Hoppers Crossing grew fast from the 1970s into the 1990s, and the houses from that time are usually brick veneer on wide suburban blocks. Their sewer drains are often clay or early PVC, or a bit of both. The liquidambars, bottlebrush and gums in front and back yards were saplings when the drains went in. Today they are big trees with root systems that follow moisture, and a weeping join in an older clay line is the easiest water they can find.
Add the seasonal movement of reactive clay soil and you get the typical Hoppers Crossing pattern: a drain that runs slowly for months, gurgles when the washing machine empties, then backs up in the shower after a wet week. A quick clear gets it running, but if roots got in through a crack, they will be back. The camera shows if that is the case before you decide on a longer fix.
The usual drain faults in Hoppers Crossing
Root mats in the main line
Fine roots enter through a join and thicken into a mat that catches paper and waste. See tree root removal.
Gurgling and slow drains
A partial blockage in the main sewer line makes fixtures gurgle and drain slowly well before anything overflows. See blocked drains.
The same blockage returning
A line cleared a few months ago that blocks again usually has a crack letting roots back in. See pipe relining.
Toilet slow to flush
The pan may be fine and the real problem further down the main, so both are checked. See blocked toilets.
How a drain job runs in Hoppers Crossing
Hoppers Crossing is in the middle of the Wyndham run, between Werribee, Tarneit and Williams Landing, so the crew is in the area often. A good share of homes here are rentals. For those, the job runs the same way as any other, except the footage and the three written options go to the landlord or property manager as well as the tenant, so the owner can decide with the evidence in front of them.
Greater Western Water is the authority for the sewer main. Your part is usually the drain between the house and the property connection point; if the camera finds the problem in the main, that one goes to Greater Western Water to check.

Had Chris and his apprentice come and help with a blocked pipe. At all times Chris was very clear and transparent about what work was required and took the time to show using the camera, explaining why the pipe needed replacing. Thanks guys amazing work.
What a great experience! Initially dealt with Ashley to get an emergency booking and she was absolutely fantastic and assured me everything would be okay and the would fix the problem. I had the pleasure of having Harley come out to my place to fix a very smelly blocked drain problem and he was great. Called before arriving and once here, was very transparent with everything he needed to do, reassured me he would be able to fix it and then once he did fix it, made sure it was clean and even turned my fans on to air the crap smell. Will definitely recommend these guys and will 100% use them again if I need to!
Ryan and Michael from McQueen group provided me with thorough and very helpful advice. They did a great job identifying the reason my shower wouldn't drain properly and they fixed the problem efficiently. They were very professional and friendly to deal with. Highly recommended.
