Lara has spread from a small township near the You Yangs into a run of newer estates, and most of its homes drain through PVC rather than clay. A blocked drain here is usually about what has gone into the pipe, how it was laid or how the ground has moved.
The streets around Lara's original township have older homes, some with clay or early PVC drains and established trees in the garden. Most of the suburb, though, is newer: estates built over the last couple of decades on what was farmland running toward the You Yangs. Those homes have PVC sewer and stormwater lines with tight, glued or rubber-sealed joins, which roots rarely get into unless a join has been damaged or knocked out of line.
What blocks a new PVC drain is mostly what goes into it. Wipes, cooking fat and hair are the regular causes, along with grout or sand left in a line during construction. The ground is reactive clay on flat, open country, so a pipe can settle unevenly and leave a low spot where waste gathers. Flat blocks also shed water slowly in heavy rain, and pits near unfinished building sites fill with silt.

What a great experience! Initially dealt with Ashley to get an emergency booking and she was absolutely fantastic and assured me everything would be okay and the would fix the problem. It is a warning. Gurgling means water is struggling past a partial blockage further down the line. Clearing it early, with the camera checking the cause, stops it turning into a backup through the shower or gully.
Often a blocked stormwater line can simply be jetted clear. If a pit or pipe has collapsed, the locator finds the exact spot so only that section is dug out and replaced.
Hair and soap build up in the shower waste and the line below it. Clearing scours the pipe clean, and if the camera shows the main line is involved, that is cleared too.
